Author Carolin Emcke regularly writes columns on current political debates in the Süddeutsche Zeitung. The topics covered include extremism, war and the climate crisis. 22 of these columns were summarised into fictional publications in the seminar The Happy Reader. The students generated an image layer for each of the given texts. Various aspects of visual communication were analysed, such as the relationship between legibility and aesthetics, and between text and image. The results were then staged photographically and as animations.
